SCHOLARSHIP NEWS
The Scholarship Committee is now operational
under the new guidelines as proposed in the 1999 newsletter. The committee,
consisting of four board members (Eileen
Fabbri, Alberta Huey, Paulette Schmelzlen, Art Julian, Chairman) and three
at large members (Yvonne Madey, Treasurer, Dr. Richard Sunseri, Robert Crusciel,
Jr.) have been meeting and modifying the basic structure of the rules and
regulations.
One of the most important aspects of a scholarship committee
is the careful and meticulous handling of finances. Board members, along
with a finance
planner
from the Portage National Bank have been studying a finance portfolio that
could give us a better money return for our investment.
The committee decided to distribute major scholarships over a one year
period instead of smaller scholarships over a 4-year period.

The Scholarship Committee will have control of proper
procedures needed to disseminate the scholarships, inviting recipients and
guests
to the annual
Homecoming. The
Scholarship Committee assumes the right to have the final decision on all matters
pertaining to scholarships.

- Please remember that the revision
of the scholarship and by-laws of the new Gallitzin Area Alumni Association

sure that
perpetuity
prevails in all our deliberations. We’re thinking positively.
